2010 Silver Achievement Award Granted by American Heart Association for Heart Failure Outcomes The American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure program granted Stony Brook University Medical Center the silver achievement award in recognition of our demonstrated top performance in terms of all heart failure indicators aggregated over a 12-month period. The award means that Stony Brook will be recognized as part of the International Scientific Sessions Conference in November 2010, and announced as a winner in Circulation, the scientific journal of the American Heart Association. |

University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) Ranks the Heart Center Third out of 96 Academic Medical Centers Nationally for Lowest Overall Cardiac Mortality Cardiac services provided by Stony Brook University Heart Center are found to be in the top tier with those of the nation's top academic medical centers, according to recent data from the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), an alliance of about 90% of the nation's non-profit academic medical centers. For the 12-month period ending in March 2008, the Heart Center was ranked third out of 96 academic medical centers for the lowest overall cardiac mortality. More |

Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI (the only one on Long Island) Stony Brook University Medical Center has received full reaccreditation as a chest pain center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC). Stony Brook was the first hospital on Long Island to receive national accreditation in 2005, and is one of six in New York State to be accredited as a chest pain center. More |

Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echo Laboratories (ICAEL) 2007-2010 ICAEL accreditation is a means by which echocardiography laboratories can evaluate and demonstrate the level of quality patient care they provide. After a laboratory submits the application to the ICAEL, the application undergoes a confidential peer-review by the ICAEL's trained reviewers, including both physicians and sonographers. More |
| Designated a UnitedHealth Premium Cardiac Specialty Center for 2007-2009. The Heart Center has been designated a UnitedHealth PremiumSM cardiac specialty center, reflecting national recognition of the cardiac care it provides. United created the UnitedHealth Premium Program in order to designate and recognize health care organizations that meet high standards for program volumes and clinical outcomes, provide patient and family-oriented services, and practice evidence-based medicine to allow their members to make more informed choices about where they receive their care. |

| Stony Brook University Heart Center Recognized on Niagara Health Quality Coalition 2009 New York State Honor Roll The Honor Roll consists of hospitals whose risk-adjusted mortality rate is statistically significantly lower than the state average mortality rate. SBUMC was awarded three stars for: Acute Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioloplasty, and Acute Myocardial Infarction w/transfers excluded. | SBUMC CODE H Team Selected by Long Island Business News as 2008 Healthcare Hero for "Achievements in Healthcare" Healthcare Heroes is an annual award program to recognize excellence, promote innovation, contribute to the enhancement of the value and quality of health care and, ultimately, recognize the men, women and organizations whose tireless work, contributions and dedication to healing and caring ensure the well-being of everyone on Long Island. The "Code H Lifesaving Initiative Team" was selected for its interdisciplinary and methodical initiative to reduce door-to-balloon catheterization time to well below the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association guidelines of 90-minutes.
